Renowned investor\u00a0and media personality\u00a0Kevin O\u2019Leary<\/strong> made a sharp distinction between Bitcoin <\/strong>(CRYPTO: <\/a>BTC<\/a>) and dollar-denominated stablecoin on Monday, attributing the latter\u2019s value to its backing by U.S. Treasuries or T-bills.<\/p>\n

Why O\u2019Leary Thinks Stablecoin Have Value<\/h2>\n

O\u2019Leary took to X, sharing a clip from his recent appearance on Fox News, in which he described Bitcoin as a \u201cspeculative asset,\u201d prone to volatile price swings.<\/p>\n

In contrast, he pointed out that \u201cstablecoins have value\u201d as they are backed by reserves of cash and cash equivalents, including T-bills.<\/p>\n

Tether <\/strong>(CRYPTO: <\/a>USDT<\/a>), the issuer of the world\u2019s largest stablecoin by market capitalization, holds\u00a0over $141 billion<\/a> in U.S. Treasuries, although an independent audit has never verified these numbers.<\/p>\n
