According to the regulator\u2019s guidance, the letter allows Coinbase\u2019s US customers to access the options and perpetuals the company already offers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Coinbase Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal called the development a \u201cmassive first for the industry\u201d in a post on X (Previously Twitter), saying it reflects an effort to bring \u201cproven global products under American regulation,\u201d which he argued is key to making the US a leading hub for crypto.<\/p>\n<h2>Kalshi Announces Perpetual Futures\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>In response to the regulatory shift, Kalshi <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2026\/05\/29\/kalshi-is-moving-beyond-prediction-markets-and-into-one-of-cryptos-biggest-trading-lanes.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">announced <\/a>Friday that it plans to launch perpetual futures contracts, beginning with crypto perpetuals. The company positioned its entry as providing US traders with a regulated alternative to offshore platforms.<\/p>\n<p>Kalshi said the offshore perpetual market expanded sharply, rising from $28 trillion in annual volume in 2023 to more than $90 trillion in 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The prediction market platform indicated that regulation will be the differentiator for its crypto product. The firm said funding rates will be charged every eight hours and will be visible in transaction history.
