{"id":9935,"date":"2025-01-27T19:17:18","date_gmt":"2025-01-27T19:17:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=9935"},"modified":"2025-01-27T19:17:18","modified_gmt":"2025-01-27T19:17:18","slug":"elon-musk-said-to-propose-blockchain-use-at-d-o-g-e-for-efficiency-bloomberg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dogewisperer.com\/?p=9935","title":{"rendered":"Elon Musk Said to Propose Blockchain Use at D.O.G.E. for Efficiency: Bloomberg"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Elon Musk, picked by President Donald Trump to lead the new Department of Government Efficiency, proposed using blockchain technology as part of the operation, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2025-01-25\/musk-exploring-blockchain-use-in-us-government-efficiency-effort?sref=3REHEaVI\" target=\"_blank\">Bloomberg<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Musk suggested that using a digital ledger would be a cost-efficient way to track federal spending, secure data, make payments and manage buildings, according to people familiar with the matter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Several representatives of public blockchains have met with affiliates of DOGE, the people said.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The department was created in response to the federal government\u2019s spending of $6.7 trillion in fiscal 2024, which Musk in October <a href=\"https:\/\/qz.com\/elon-musk-donald-trump-government-spending-budget-biden-1851682623\" target=\"_blank\">called \u201cwasted\u201d money<\/a>. He promised the department \u2014 whose acronym is a nod to Musk\u2019s favorite cryptocurrency, dogecoin (DOGE) \u2014 would slash the figure to at most $2 trillion.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Given the department\u2019s name and Trump\u2019s determination to establish crypto-friendly policies in the U.S., Musk\u2019s plan to incorporate blockchain technology doesn\u2019t come as a surprise.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>In addition to creating DOGE on Jan. 20, Trump signed an executive order to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/policy\/2025\/01\/23\/trump-issues-crypto-executive-order-to-pave-u-s-digital-assets-path-reports\" target=\"_blank\">create a working group on digital assets<\/a> led by venture capitalist David Sacks with a mandate to identify all regulations that currently touch crypto within 30 days, among other things.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Elon Musk, picked by President Donald Trump to lead the new Department of Government Efficiency, proposed using blockchain technology as part of the operation, Bloomberg reported.
