Martin Shkreli<\/strong>, also known as \u201cPharma Bro,\u201d has escalated his stand against quantum computing<\/a> firm IONQ Inc. <\/strong>(NYSE:<\/a>IONQ<\/a>), accusing the company of peddling exaggerated capabilities to crypto investors.<\/p>\n

Responding to a prominent Bitcoin <\/strong>(CRYPTO: <\/a>BTC<\/a>) investor\u2019s anecdote about a quantum firm\u2019s impossible mining pitch, Shkreli bluntly declared, \u201cThey were lying.\u201d<\/p>\n

The <\/strong>\u2018Trivial\u2019 Bitcoin Pitch<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The controversy ignited over a social media post from Mike Alfred<\/strong>, a value equity investor who sits on the board of Bitcoin mining company IREN Ltd. <\/strong>(NASDAQ:<\/a>IREN<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Alfred shared that a major quantum company advised him to stop investing in crypto mining, claiming their technology made it \u201crelatively trivial\u201d to mine all remaining unmined Bitcoin in a mere 48 hours.<\/p>\n

Shkreli explicitly named IONQ as the culprit<\/a> behind the outlandish claim. \u201cIONQ said this to a lot of people and they were lying,\u201d Shkreli posted on X.<\/p>\n

When a user expressed disappointment that he didn\u2019t reiterate his usual call to short the stock, Shkreli casually responded, \u201cI mean, yeah, of course.\u201d<\/p>\n
